The eye

This was a hard working week-end, shooting effectively hundreds of close-up photos of eyes with contact lenses (7 models, about 50 lenses, 3-4 shots for each). Tiresome but rewarding, commercial but without pay, Fun stuff.

lot of eyes

During the photo session I developed a theory: interested in cosmetic contact lenses seems to be girls with beautiful brown eyes and girls with less-than-beautiful but non-brown eyes. Probably a try to fit a social norm and a corrective action.

I can understand someone is not happy with her eye color, hell, I am not with mine, I can also understand someone's curiosity about a new eye color, but I can't understand why someone with beautiful eyes would prefer a complete fakery (duh! those lenses are so unnatural!) only because she does not have the "perfect" color (I think is obvious I find the natural form of some of the eyes above to be really beautiful).

  2. My eyes are like the color of the pic on the top left corner. It's kind of weird though. If I wear a purple shirt, they look kind of purply-brown. Blue shirt--very bright, Red shirt--Kind of red, Brown or Black shirt--very dark. lol I love them. :-)

  3. @Emily: this is true, the color of the eyes is influenced by the surrounding light, ad our clothes reflect the light, influencing its qualities: color, brightness, temperature, etc.

  4. im a high school school taking photography classes...i found this very interesting..my photography teacher always tells us to create the focal point of our photos somewhere other than the center...the repitition of the different colored eyes works very well :)

  5. and your teacher is right, most of the composing the picture using the rule of thirds will bring a good result

  10. My eyes are bright green, with gold chips in them. I LOVE THEM. When I was little they were bright blue, then grey, then brown/grey, then grey again, then green, and finally there was some gold in them. In othe rwords my eyes have changed color over the years. I hooe mine stay the way they are now.

    1. is more than that, they change colors with every season. their color in winter is different from the color in summer - alt least that's the case with mine and all the people i know.

  11. 6th row, what a lovely shape... do you have a picture of the whole model? I'm really curious about that, she must have a very pretty face, her eyes are completely stunning to me :-)

    1. indeed, she was a nice girl, but not really used wearing contact eyes, so you can see her eyes are in pain, red and tearing.
my favorite as shape or color? i can say upfront, i prefer natural eyes, the cosmetic contact lenses are way FAKE. as shape, maybe 1, but i would preferred it in a lighter color.

  13. Mind if I comment on this despite being a few years old? Thanks ; )

I used to have lighter blue-ish eyes when I was a boy. I'm 29 now and they've definitely gone a bit darker and a bit more green. I love women with brown eyes, the darker the better.

If I had to pick one from your picture above for my ideal woman, I'd say top left. I also really like 2nd to bottom on the far left side.

    1. top-left is an "original" eye, no contact lenses. the rest of the row is the same eye with various lenses

    1. I have the same ones but I know a guy that has the 3rd ones in the 5th row and I love them but he never brags about them. He never even talks about them. He's really nice.

  15. I have the eyes on the 3rd row, the second ones and I HATE them. The only reason that I hate them is because more than half of the world's population has brown eyes. I wish my eyes were green, but I would never wear colored contacts because I would feel so fake. The worst part is that my eyes are huge and I have extremely long eyelashes so people actually take notice of my eyes. Some people even tell me to take my glasses off just so they can see my eyes up close. I've been told on several occasions that they're huge and amazing but I don't believe so. I only know 2 people with purely green eyes though, and they're both guys. If only I had green eyes...

  16. I don't know what it is with brown eye people and your eyes turning red when angry, but I totally know what you mean. I have brown eyes and I do love them although the only thing I don't happen to like is when I'm wearing makeup and I'm going out with friends to clubs. I've been getting told lately that it looks like I am wearing contacts (probably black) because apparently my eyes look so dark (been getting informed it's quite scary to those that are my friends and family members who have divulged this information to me). As far as the lighting thing goes I totally agree. I was actually looking up some old photos of mine and realized it's pretty crazy but there's a tint of green in my eyes. These photos took place when I was 18 though so yes I know color changes as you get older. As for the red, I most definitely understand what you brown eye people mean and I too have seen a tint of red in my eyes, although it doesn't occur when I'm mad or angry which is weird. Just crazy how the human body works is my main point in this post :D.
