Carving

jack o' lantern
This year I carved my own squashes (instead of traditional pumpkins used some small gourds), put candles inside, lightened them and then took some photos, of course. I am not into the Halloween stuff, but carving pumpkins is fun.

Aint' no jamon

Friends who visited Spain keep telling me about jamón, the local speciality. I wasn't there yet, can't tell if it is up to its reputation, I can only show you some regular Romanian smoked ham. Not bad.

Must in the family

Crushing the grapes into must (AKA wine making) is a family thing: mother, father, son, everybody get to work and each has his own things to do. Here it looks like the father is in the advantage.

Pastrami

Take a big loaf of mutton pastrami, cut in into pieces. Optionally, at the same time fill some glasses with must (or wine)

pastrami

Grill the pastrami. Optionally cut the grilled pieces into smaller, bite-sized pieces.

pastrami

In parallel, prepare a bowl of mamaliga.

pastrami

Eat the pastrami with mamaliga. You will want the must too.

Sarmale in the pumpkin

This is a less known way to cook sarmale: get a pumpkin and take out the seeds. Fill the interior with uncooked sarmale and whatever else is needed: tomatoes, peppers, smoked bacon, herbs.

sarmale

Put in in the oven and let it cook.

sarmale

Take it out when done.

sarmale

Serve the sarmale together with a bit of cooked pumpkin pulp. Enjoy.

Photo editing tutorials

Lately I wrote on my general blog a couple of photo editing tutorials, both of them are targeted at GIMP, since this is what I use on my day to day work. Of course, the principles are general and can be applied to other similar tools.

The first one is about watermark removal on photos submitted to Wikipedia, this is something perfectly legal, since those pictures are submitter under a Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike license.

watermark removal

The second tutorials refers to creating customs grids to be used on photo editing but also in graphic and layout design.

Naked tattoos (NSFW)

The big hall of the tattoo convention had a stage for artistic performances, concerts and stuff. Stuff including a few strip shows... the first one with Bonita, who is quite known from a number of TV and tabloid apparitions. She started by playing a cop:

Then her colleague Kennya, who moved from nun to naughty:

Unlike the girls, when the time came for a guy show, his name wasn't advertised:

Finally all of them returned, the guy briefly throwing some fire then leaving the girls alone, they were playing a good and a bad angel:

Pumpkin time

Take the pumpkin slices, add plenty of cinnamon on top for good flavor, maybe also some vanilla sugar. Bake it in the oven. Eat as is or with some honey. That's autumn delight.

Metal Crush

Even if titled "party", Metal Crush was in fact a 3 days metal festival with many bands, around 20 I guess, among which were Akral Necrosis, Infected Rain, Monarcy and Abigail (all pictured below):
