Photowalk in Bucharest for Wikipedia

Part of the Wiki Loves Monuments campaign, we had this week-end an event called "Wiki Takes Bucharest" (it also happened in many other European cities), gathering together 7 contributors walking for a couple of hours trough the city and taking pictures of historical monuments for Wikipedia. I made a more in-depth account of it on my blog. It was fun and, I hope, productive:

Bad blood? Flamenco!

For the last week-end of the Bucharest Days for 2011, on the stage on Lipscani street they had a Spanish group, named Malasangre5 (is this the 5 bad bloods? they were only 4...) singing and dancing flamenco, and they were not bad at all:

Cheerleading for the schools parade

Sunday in Bucharest we had the schools parade (primary and high schools), which gathered on the streets of Bucharest some tens of thousands of young people (I heard an estimate of 20000, but think it was conservative, from the middle of it, they seemed many more). The demonstration was opened by a group of cheerleaders, of which I am going to post some pictures:

Enough cheerleaders? Let's finish with a "normal" picture:

Enescu Festival, 2011

Yesterday I managed at last to attend the Enescu Festival, which happend in the very center of Bucharest, and listen to some high quality classical music performed by talented musicians, in an open-air concert (Piata Revolutiei, in front of Ateneul Roman), it was some well spent time:

Expecting

Vlad Andrei is going to join the world any time soon (probably in a couple of weeks), so preparing for that, me and his parents went for some photos in the park in a nice afternoon a couple of weeks ago:

Geishas on stilts - only in Bucharest!

This was an unexpected attraction for Bucharest Days: a couple of geishas walking around on stilts and entertaining the audience. Yeah, their list of words, expressions and jokes was limited, but they were quite enthusiastic.

Bucharest Days 2011

Sometime in September is the celebration of Bucharest Days, so this year for almost a full month (26 August - 18 September) there are supposed to happen various things in the Old City, as this is how the event is called this year, "Old City Days". Being there for Wikipedia photo hunting I noticed the fair and the concert scene, so when done I returned for a bit of festival.

The band playing was one I had never heard before, Alimentation Générale, but they had a lot of atitude and poses, making the audience feel good:

Starting to put pics to WLMRO

It was kind of frustrating to promote the Wiki Loves Monuments, make video tutorials, organize photo walks, but not upload any photo (I can't and I won't enter the contest, since I am organizer and judge). Until the solution stroke: there can be a photo category for organizers, which is counted for the total and seeding data, but not entering in the contest. Relief! A first batch is up, more are to come :)

From the photos above I can almost hear my readers "Wow! a darker Haramchi!", no my friends, that was only a photographic angle, it was the same happy, joyful event as in the previous editions.
