Update: the high resolution of the photo(s) here were lost in an unfortunate accident(human error made by be) and a bit later the only copy remaining (resized for web use, hosted on flickr) was deleted by the yahoo bastards. I am very sad about the lost content, but is out of my control. My only hope is I will be able to replace them with more and better shots.

Traditional Romanian and the rural metropolis of Bucharest
Do not get fooled by the look with grass, weeds and flowers, this image is from inside the city of Bucharest, a large European metropolis but with large rural tendencies: you will see crosses on the street where people died due an accident (or like here next to the railroads), even if it is in the middle of the city.

Linen tree blossom: another honeymaker
We know the Black Locust flowers are used for honey making, but also the Linded tree blossom are used for a popular variety of honey. Now here is the dilemma: you can use linden flowers for a nice herbal tea, so you sweeten the linden tea with linden honey or with black locust honey?

Blue chicory
Some time ago I set myself the target to try shooting a chicory flower as best an I can so a few days ago in the morning, I saw from the windows of the tram a chicory bush on the side of the road. It was to late to try something that day, and in the evening when returning was already too dark. The next day I was in a rush, so skipped again, but the third day I finally took the shoot: left the home earlier, walked instead of using the tram and enjoyed the photoshot:

I got the opportunity to remake this shot.
Poppy head
Lately I tried a few shoots of poppy flowers, but yesterday morning I had the opportunity for a composition about this. Made just in front of my house, early in the morning when leaving for work.

Booth babe me
So it's life, you usually shoot both babes, but sometime the wheel is turning around and you are the "booth babe". Good thing I wasn't caught in embarrassing posture with pantyshots or worse :p

Being at the conference, I used the opportunity and tries some thematic portraits:

Rose garden, my garden
Lately I posted a lot of rose photos (and will continue to do so). Why? because my garden (backyard and not only) is full of those flowers, see below:

Eating: roses, strawberries...
A memory of my childhood: jam made of roses. Actually this is "dulceață" in Romanian, which is not the same as "gem"(jam), is something sweeter. You use the petals, boil them with lemon, sugar and some water and the result is a delicious sweet fruit preserve.

Speaking about food produced by my garden, I had the first harvest of strawberries this year, they were a few and the photos are quite bad, but they are real strawberries, no chemicals, no nothing:

Honey: how it's made
I can't say which honey is the best, but the one made from Black Locust flowers (Romanian: salcim) is really good, with nice flavor and color. So here is how it's made: in late spring/early summer the bees are collecting the pollen from the flowers and then making the sweet thing. Mmmm... pancakes with black locust honey, aren't you mouth watering?

I am a vulture too...
At Ziua Mamelor de Inger I found interesting to observe how the photographers were pouncing over "cute" subjects (kids playing), just like vultures over their prey.
But I am a vulture too: I stumbled upon some people crying and hugging and my first reaction (old habit?) was tu torn away and give them some privacy. But then I went like: WTF! I am a photographer! I can't leave the decisive moment pass... if they want privacy they shouldn't do this in public, at an event where media is invited...

Ziua Mamelor de Ingeri, Bucharest, 2009
Bucharest is a relatively peaceful city, with not many interesting opportunities for photojournalism (boring photojournalism is ...boring), so I am not trained at that and when I get to take such shoots, like here at "Ziua Mamelor de Ingeri" ("Angel's Mothers Day"), where I was invited by Bianca Brad, I take mostly portraits and candids, what I know and what I like.

Wake up and smell the roses
The benefits of a sunny morning after heavy rain are not only about taking close-up of snails but also the great opportunity to catch some beautiful rain drops on the petals of the roses in your garden.

Snail
About a month ago a colleague from Fedora showed me a photo of a snail, where I liked the colors but not so much the composition and framing, so I had to wait a few weeks for a "decisive moment", allowing to show my own vision of a snail photo. And it came this sunny morning, after a night with heavy rain, the perfect opportunity for the snails to take a little walk:

Roses season starting in 3, 2, 1...
The flower is not that great and the photo is not either, but it is the first rose blossoming this year in my garden, it is a mark of the roses season start (a season which will probably last until the late autumn).

Living statue
Sunday in the Herastrau Park there were some more people posing in "living statues" but the guys changed their facial expressions and even body positions a lot. Her was impressive with her commitment on staying still, like a real statue. And the clothing were fit, making her look like an ancient Greek priestess, exactly how you expect a statue to be.

Iris flowers
I find those iris flowers spectacular (photos taken in my garden):

And the rainy weather, bad for photography as it will keep you inside, can make miracles with those water drops:

Boat Show
Pretty much unhappy with the shooting at the boat show, the babes there, compared with a car or bikes show, are fewer, uncooperative and less hot (this is the second time I learn this this year). On top of this the sun was strong, really bad for photography, so many of the girls had sunglasses covering their eyes or large hats shadowing their faces, so it was a struggle to get something.

Portrait
Closing my portrait series of photos taken at the car and bike salon, naturally I should choose the one I like the best. Why I label this one as the best may be probably a not easy psychological thing to answer.

The wonder of flash photography
I think the only way for me to take this portrait properly was using an external flash (strobe), of course, with all the needed precautions (softbox, bounced).

Orange flower
Too much girl portraits lately? How about interrupting for a flower close-up? Yes, it is also from my garden and I don't know its name...
