Hipster paradise

The city of Bucharest just added a new hipster paradise, is a new Cărturești book store where one can just hang and feel cool. In the first days after its opening the place was swarming with the curious.

From the swamp

So many people call it wrongly a "delta" that the swamp at Văcărești entered the popular culture as a delta (hints: there's no river there and no sea, is is not shaped like "∆"). Never the less, it can be spectacular to have something like this inside the big city.

The roasting of Mr. Pig

This year I didn't manage to attend Ignat traditions but I', publishing a few old but not published before pictures. They deserved publishing from the first time, but due to their violence I was a bit skeptical.

Do cleaning, not war

While I agree making love is by far the best option, cleaning is way better than making war.

Proud Romanians

One does not have to be a citizen or even speak the language to wave flags on the national day parade.

Patriotic horse

I pretty much doubt the horse cares about national pride and such things.

There be light

Our city started lighting its winter holidays decorations.

there be light

For the last few years, at this this time I debate with myself: is a subjective projections of my high expectations of getting used with impressive Xmas lights, or year after year they really are poorer and poorer? I can't definitely tell, but I'm tempted to lean for the later.

Unlimited

It makes more sense in Romanian, with the background saying "unlimited" and "experience together".

Happy birthday metro!

Piata Unirii is probably the biggest in the Bucharest metro and we are celebrating there with a photo exhibition 35 years since the subway system opened in our city.

Elections

Yesterday evening a number of Romanian cities witnessed demonstrations where the people requested to be allowed to vote, here are images from Bucharest. A week ago, in the first elections round, the current prime-minister and leader of the communist party, Victor Ponta, who is also a candidate in the presidential elections, just blocked the people from voting in the places where it was expected he won't receive a good score, including university centers and outside of the country.

Election day

The two were sitting and counting the election stamps on the back of their ID cards. "Who did we vote for in May 25?" I heard.

Wiki exhibition

This is kind of an unusual post for my photography blog, since the spotlight is not on my photos: yesterday evening, a photo exhibition with top pictures from the Wiki Loves Monuments Romania photography contest opened (I was part of the organizing team). The exhibition will stay open at the National Library in Bucharest for about 3 weeks and then will move at the Universitatea de Vest in Timișoara for a couple more weeks. Come and see the top 10 images from this year and highlights from the previous editions.

To the bank

I leave it up to the reader to determine if the stairs in front ob the bank or in front of the church are more lucrative for begging.
