Walking for a couple of hours in the city of Călărași I was in need to use a bathroom and, surprisingly, no one was to be found in the city's largest park. Fortunately, a handball mach was taking place in a sports hall nearby and the access was free. Problem solved! Bonus: taking some sport photos.

Pseudo-Holi

The Holi festival in India is spectacular, no wonder there are copycat attempts, like The Color Run which had the first Romanian edition in Bucharest. But those can't use the original religious theme of Holi, so they have to use something else, like a 5 kilometers run followed by a party. Still, the paint and get together are kept.

Last but not the least?

This happens all the time: I had to send pictures for an exhibition, the rule was "up to three", the first and second choices were easy picks, but to make the number and maximize my chances, I picked a third one, an image from the 2012 Bucharest marathon. Of course, the jury selected the third one, which was, in my opinion, the least representative. But as said above, this is not unexpected, it happens all the time. More on the exhibition near the end of the next week.

Marathon

I am not good ar running on long distance, I used to be better at speed on short distance, but lost my training for that too. Well, that is no excuse to miss the Bucharest International Marathon, an awesome photography opportunity. It was the 5th edition, but the first time for me: is a big event, it has good athletes, like this group that was leading the race, or like the guy who followed them or the first girl:

Along with the athletes, many other people participated, in fact there were more races at the same time: the marathon, the half-marathon, the relay-marathon, the disabled people race and the popular cross:

And everybody was "running", even those you would have expected the less:

Football

I avoided as much as possible watching the UEFA 2012 tournament, but pretty much against my will I was stuck in front of a TV set for the most part of the final (from the rest, I didn't see even a total of five minutes). I saw all the goals and the final score, and what can I say, remembering the times when I used to be into football, a 4-0 is humiliating for the Italian team, Spain made them look like little girls... like the girl below would have been a valuable addition of their team.

Final/Fans/Football

Yesterday evening Bucharest hosted the Europa League final, a match between two Spanish teams, Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao, so the old city (the Lipscani area) was practically under invasion by happy people singing, dancing, screaming and drinking. Is hard to say which is which, since both teams have the same colors: red and white stripes (Bilbao may have also a bit of green, Madrid a bit of blue).
