Besides SkirtBike, another event at BikeFest was the "two on a bike" race, here teams of two people riding the same bike went head to head in a competition.

Last week-end the Izvor park in Bucharest hosted the BikeFest festival, which had as one of its events the fourth edition of SkirtBike (autumn edition), where women are invited to take part with a bicycle while wearing a skirt (preferably vintage) and maybe high heels.

The first half of the Wiki Loves Monuments 2012 is done: photo submission ended, not is the time for the second half, jury enters the action to select the winners.
So far it exceeded the expectations, in Romania we collected over 8750 images from about 270 participants, a significant increase from around 5800 images in the previous year. The international contest is also well, the grand total is over 360000 images and still counting (some imports are undergoing), more than double compared with the previous year.
Some serious ass kicking happened!

Believe or not, as this historical monument plate says, it used to be a "Low Priced Dwellings Society". I expect the name to pretty much be a publicity stunt, but that makes it no less funny.

Is autumn, the season for grapes to get ripe. The wides use for the grapes is wine making, but before the fermentation they become must, a wonderful drink full of sweetness and flavor. Best served with grilled pastrami.

Hunting for my latest batch of photos for the Wiki Loves Monuments photo contest, I encountered this building, which is not a historical monument, but still an interesting sight. Ans you can probably see is a former shop, which had a "FOTO LUX" sign, if not obvious, that is Romanian for "Luxury Photography". Think of the past glory of this place...

I have queued for editing and upload around 75 pictures taken in the last week-end, I will add them to my other contributions to Wiki Loves Monuments, is the last week and my hope is to exceed the numbers from the last year, when the total was close to 5800 pictures (this morning we were at just a bit over 5000)

If there is one thing I try hard to avoid is being a hypocrite, this is why I question myself often. Now is one of those times :)
I deeply and sincerely believe religion is evil but I do photography, contributing to things like Wiki Loves Monuments I take and publish a lot of pictures of churches, monasteries and various other religious things and I also take photos at events like weddings and baptisms, where religion is a very important side. I know churches and monasteries are the bulk of historical monuments here (in medieval times very little culture happened in Romania outside the religion) and I know the society make the religious part that important in life events, but still feel a bit uneasy.

If a few month back I caught an Caragiale act near the opening the the all-summer long Caragiale Festival, now near its end I caught another, the same company, Masca, but a different play, "O scrisoare pierdută".

Somehow, I am not very sure the seller is very focused on his colored balloons, something else may have caught his attention. Not good for the business.

I like fireworks and it was a while (at least a couple of years) since I saw a good one (being busy whit other things when they happened), so when I learned there will be fireworks in the last night of B-FIT, I couldn't miss the opportunity.

Neige de feu (snow fire) by Cie entre Terre et Ciel was a spectacular show with fire, part of B-FIT Street, the Bucharest international theatre festival.

"19 Reasons" by Aromatic Company was one of the spectacles happening in the street at the Bucharest International Theatre Festival, B-FIT. I saw their show twice: one time in the Colțea Square and another time on the Lipscani Street, the pictures are from the second one, where my station point was better.

Sunday afternoon, the store is closed, nothing happens, even its trusted guardian is taking a nap (somehow, I suspect that's all he is doing all day long).
